GameOver Project Officially Kicks Off in Bilbao

The GameOver project consortium held its official kick-off meeting on 3–4 April 2025 in the vibrant city of Bilbao, Spain. Hosted by Centro San Viator, the meeting brought together partners from Lithuania, Greece, Spain, and Bulgaria to formally launch the project and coordinate the first steps of its implementation.

The 2-day event began with a social dinner on 3 April, offering a valuable opportunity for informal networking and team building among partners. On 4 April, the discussion focused on the presentation of findings from field research carried out from all partners between 26 March and 2 April. Through questionnaires and interviews addressed to teachers and students, the main challenges related to students’ use of online games were recorded. This research will be used to create the Early Detection Tool (EDI), which will help teachers and parents identify early signs of problematic gaming.

Further sessions focused on:

  • Discussing the structure and goals of the EDI
  • Outlining the development of supporting training materials
  • Planning the piloting phase and reviewing project coordination

The meeting concluded with a strong spirit of cooperation and a shared commitment to equipping students, teachers, and families with effective tools to recognise and respond to problematic online gaming.
