The EU FOODPACT project officially began with its first Transnational Project Meeting, held in Reus, Spain, on 13–14 May 2026. Hosted by the Reus Chamber of Commerce, the meeting marked the first important opportunity for the partners to meet in person and lay the foundations for their collaboration over the next three years.
EU FOODPACT was created in response to an important European need: supporting micro and small agri-food businesses in the green and digital transition. Today, many businesses are expected to meet new sustainability requirements, yet often lack the necessary guidance, tools, and skills to do so effectively.
During the meeting, the partners discussed the project’s vision, the first implementation steps, and the ways in which EU FOODPACT will support businesses, workers, educational organisations, and policy stakeholders. Particular attention was given to the initial mapping activities, which will help identify the real needs and challenges faced by the agri-food sector.
Beyond the technical discussions, the meeting also had a strong social and collaborative dimension. Partners had the opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, and build a positive atmosphere of cooperation. This first face-to-face interaction was especially valuable, as a project with such ambitious goals requires trust, effective communication, and a shared direction.
EMVIO participates in the project as the partner responsible for communication and dissemination activities, contributing to the promotion of the project’s results and the engagement of relevant stakeholders.
EU FOODPACT has started with strong momentum, collaboration, and a shared commitment to creating meaningful change within the agri-food sector. The next steps will focus on stakeholder engagement, the development of practical tools, and the implementation of activities supporting the sustainable transition of food businesses across Europe.
Stay tuned!
